- The
minutes from the July 11, 2006 meeting were approved.
- Updates from the last meeting:
- The LSTA grant has been submitted since the last meeting
- Discussion
- There was a brief discussion of SIP2 (it can be used by Telus). (Brief definition: SIP2 (version 2 of SIP) is the de-facto standard for the exchange of circulation data and transactions between different systems. It is now in use by a variety of self-issue systems, telephone renewals, PC bookings software, library security systems and now RFID systems.)
- Are you interested in…
- There was a brief discussion of Internet safety and social software, and educating Library Boards.
- DOPA legislation passed the House in July, but has not yet passed the Senate.
- Current SCLS technology projects
- Talk of Windows migration being a monsterous job.
- Self-checks on order for both Mount Horeb and Madison.
- SCLS is looking at realigning Karen Rattunde’s position.
- BadgerNet conversion is finished and was very successful.
- SCLS automation has found a spam solution and is looking for volunteers for a test run.
- Novelist rollout is moving forward, and hopefully it will be up by January 1.
- A new version of the Overdrive software patrons install locally is now available. SCLS will update FAQ’s.
- SCLS and Winnefox put in $5,000 together towards Overdrive
- There are 75 to 80 people on the Citizen Technology Advisory Board, and they evaluated Wisconsin Heritage Online in September.
- Potpourri
- Mount Horeb: Self check-out starts October 17.
- Madison: Our Evanced calendar program will generate press releases and email notifications to patrons, allowing patrons to make room reservations online. Self services holds have gone well at Central. Our staff blog has been very helpful.
- Middleton: We conducted an Advanced Excel class last month, and now we have three Excel classes.
- Baraboo: We are working on our web site, updating as often as we can. We are also moving some public computers off the LINK network.
- Marshfield: We are having an open house on Sunday November 12, with a theme of ‘Reasons to be Thankful.’ We are also working on a genealogy biblio.
- Wisconsin Rapids: We’ve been removing concrete from the roof, and we’ve also been working on Evanced for room reservations online.
- Wisconsin Dells: Getting ready for WLA at the Kalahari.
- SCLS: We will be getting new laptops for the SCLS wireless lab.
Next meeting date: Tuesday January 9, 2007 at 1 PM.
