What is a WisLine Web session?
WisLine Web sessions are web-based learning in conjunction with a phone conference. During the session, you'll listen to a voice conversation over the phone while watching a presentation on your computer.
To participate in a WisLine workshop, you'll need to have:
How to register
To register for any SCLS Administration WisLine session, go to the the WisLine Web Registration Service.
On the right side of the main registration page, you'll see a "Sign In" box. In this box, you may:
Both new and returning registrants will be taken to a list of WisLine Web
programs.
Scroll down the page to the list for South Central Library System,
and click on the link for the date for the workshop you wish to attend.
New
registrants must fill out the registration form completely. Returning registrants’
contact
information will already be filled in. The contact information can be edited
by clicking “Clear” at the bottom of the page. Click “Submit” to register.
You'll receive an email verification containing instructions for entering
the conference, and for verifying your browser configuration.
As with all continuing education opportunities, there is no cost to participate in WisLine Web sessions for SCLS members, including multi-type members. However, because there is a charge for each toll-free access number, there is a cost for members of other public library systems. The charge will vary with the length of the program, but is generally in the range of about $14 per hour per location. Please contact Jean Anderson with questions about this fee.
Multiple people attending at one site
Several people may attend at one location using the same computer and speaker phone.
Only one person should register, and put a list of all other attendees in the "Miscellaneous" box on the registration form.
Hardware and software requirements
WisLine Web has a page of Hardware and Software Requirements.
It is strongly recommended that you complete their browser
check for
Live Meeting 2003 before attending a session.
IMPORTANT: WisLine Web sessions require that PCs have several browser plug-ins installed before you participate in a session. If you do not have the plug-ins installed before the workshop, you may have problems viewing portions of the presentation. The browser check will verify if you need additional plug-ins (be sure to use the Live Meeting 2003 check!)
If you plan to use a LINK workstation for the session, and you need plug-ins, you will need to contact the LINK help desk (608-242-4710) at least one week before the scheduled session and request the plug-in installations. If you do not contact the help desk within this time frame and set-up an installation time, they cannot guarantee that they will be able to complete the installation before the workshop.
If you plan to use a nonLINK workstation for the workshop, you should be able to install the plug-ins yourself, following the instructions that appear during the browser check process. However, if you encounter problems, you may contact Dan Jacobson.
