  1. Discuss Literacy Promotion Project—to push message that libraries are supporting early literacy, and have been doing that for years. Create ties to existing state/national literacy initiatives.
    • Review what has been done.
    • Give input about materials/information created
    • What needs to be done, and who will do it.
  2. Discuss library role in helping people through the process of finding a job and getting training
    • Talk about what libraries are doing and the impact. Stories about how libraries have helped and the services they provide. System-wide and local.
    • Suggestions were to go to InBusiness and other regional publications. Could also talk about financial literacy.
    • Can we collaborate with the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation to get a series of programs in all our counties? (Susan Santner contacted them and they are intreested)
    • Create a brochure that highlights the various databases that can be used. A good way to get to the people who have the potential to influence elected officials.
    • Can they help us develop a presentation that libraries can take out to business leaders and elected officials. Stories from around the system. Potential stories include a farmer who is leaving the farm or someone who is forced to change careers late in life.
