DNR invites libraries to send tree ornaments

Kirsten Held, Division of Forestry at the Department of Natural Resources, has invited public libraries to submit hand-made ornaments made of wood, paper, or natural materials to help decorate the holiday tree in the State Capital.

Librarians may have scheduled such craft items this summer as part of the “Discover New Trails” Summer Library Program, which included a focus on trees and forests. If you have a craft item that would work an ornament, send a copy of it to Kirsten. Libraries also can schedule a craft session so children can each make an ornament to send. The deadline for submission is Nov. 19, 2004.

For more information, the guidelines on the ornament construction, and the mailing address, go to http://www.wisconsinforestry.org/activities_content_holidaytree.html.

If you have any questions, call Kirsten Held at (608) 264-6036 (kirsten.held@dnr.state.wi.us).
