Limiting use of MyPC computers based on age

Libraries can elect to limit use of some or all of their MyPC computers based on a patron's age. Users in MyPC are broken down into 5 categories:

  • Kids (0-7)
  • Youth (8-12)
  • Teen (13-17)
  • Adult (18+)
  • Default (patrons without a birthdate entered in Koha)

Some examples:

  • A library may have a policy that patrons must be 13 in order to use the internet. In this case, the library can elect to allow Teens (13-17) and Adults (18+) to use the internet PCs.
  •
  • A library may want only kids up to age 12 to be allowed to use the computers in the Youth Services room. In this case, the library can elect to allow only Kids (0-7) and Youth (8-12) to use the YS computers.
  •
  • A library may not have any limitations on who can use the PCs. In this case, EVERYONE would be allowed to use the computers (Kids, Youth, Teen, Adult, and Default)
