**IMPORTANT** What should library staff know about starting Thunderbird in the first time after the upgrade?

If you have any questions or problems after the upgrade, please call the Help Desk: (608) 242-4710.

What if the upgrade didn't happen for my PC?

When we deliver upgrades, sometimes the upgrades fail. If your PC's Thunderbird is not successfully upgraded, it will be "business like usual" with the old version. We'll include your PC in the next night's upgrades. Most PCs that fail to upgrade the first night do install the upgrade successfully on the 2nd try.

Will the upgrade preserve any plugins we're using?

At the end of the startup screens, it will ask what you want to do with any plugins you may have installed for Thunderbird. You may have to update your plugin to have it work with the new Thunderbird version.

SCLS plans to upgrade Thunderbird when they do what they call an "Extended Support Release" or ESR. Currently the schedule is roughly once every 10 months.
