About the committee

SCLS seeks input into its decision making process, including planning, services and evaluation. A primary advisory group is Public Library Advisory (PLAC). But sub-committees of PLAC exist to give input in specific areas. One such group is the Youth Services Committee.

The Youth Services Committee meets once a month in the months of February, March, April, May, August, September, October, November and December. Discussion topics are identified for each month during the annual Grassroots meeting. Some of the meetings are formal C.E. programs, but most of the meetings include a presentation or discussion on a particular youth services topic.

An Agenda is created by the current Chair with assistance from the Youth Services Consultant and is distributed to each library. Notes from the previous meeting and handouts are sent with the following month's Agenda. Several sub-Committees of the Youth Services Committee also work on specific issues related to youth services. These include the Children's Media Committee, the Summer Library Program Workshop Planning Committee and ad hoc committees, such as the Ellison/Accu-Cut Die Committee. Any SCLS librarian may participate in these committees. Contact Shawn Brommer for more information.
