South Central Library System has two mobile circulation kits that member public libraries can request. These kits are part of the SCLS Mobile Hotspot Pilot Project and will be available for reservation until December 2017. The laptop and peripherals may be used with the provided Verizon hotspot, or can be connected to another wireless signal. Libraries may reserve one kit at a time.
Each mobile circulation kit contains:
- laptop (with charger, case, and mouse)
- Verizon hotspot and charger
- battery-powered receipt printer and charger
- USB barcode scanner
- surge protector
- extra receipt printer paper
- setup guide
The mobile circulation kit laptop runs Windows 8 and is loaded with Office 2013 (which includes Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word). Browsers and other software were updated June 2017.
This Mobile Circulation Kit was supported in part by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds, awarded to the Wisconsin DPI by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
