            a. Introduction of guests/visitors:  None

            b. Requests to address the Board:  None

Approval of previous meeting minutes: 7/27/2023

a.   Motion:  J. Wright moved approved of the 7/27/2023 minutes.  B. Clendenning seconded.
b.   Changes or corrections:  None

c.   Vote:  Motion carried. G. Poulson abstained.

Financial Statements:  M. Van Pelt provided a brief review of the financial statements.

Bills for Payments:  The payment amount is $1,331,505.22

a.   Motion:  J. Wright reviewed the bills for payment and moved approval.   L. Ross seconded.

b.   Discussion:  None

            c.    Vote:  Motion carried.

Committee Reports:  

a. Advocacy:  No report.

b. Personnel and Budget/Finance:  The committee met and reviewed the 2024 budget, wage grid, and system director salary.  They recommend approval of the budget, wage grid, and system director salary to the board.   

Action Items:  None

SCLS Foundation Report:   Jacob Wright has volunteered to join the SCLS Foundation Board. 

System Director's Report:  You may view the System Director report online.  Greg Mickells will be retiring as director of the Madison Public Library.  The Brodhead library is searching for a director.

Discussion:

There will be a tour of the new building at the September Board meeting at 11:45 a.m.  The Bylaws Committee will meet in October.  A new chair of the Bylaws Committee needs to be selected because the term of E. Galanter has ended.  

The training notes from the Becky Spratford presentation will be reviewed at the September meeting.

Administrative Council (AC) Report:  Met 8/17/2023.  You may view the minutes online. 

Information sharing: Long time SCLS Trustee Nan Brien passed away.
