4.      Discussion

a.      Updates from previous meeting

                                                              i.      LINKcat tutorials – Renewing Materials completed

ii.      Discussion: A. Gannaway completed and posted the Renewing Materials tutorial.  She is interested in hearing any feedback.  She will create a separate page to list all the tutorials when she has completed more.  VER mentioned that creating a tutorial on My Dashboard would be helpful because they receive a lot of calls about this, especially to explain the difference between My Checkouts and My History.  A. Gannaway will review the suggestions for new tutorials she received and can work on creating a tutorial for the My Dashboard page.

b.      Mobile app implementation update

                                                              i.      Discussion: V. Teal Lovely sent an email to link-announce saying we are working on the mobile app, but we do not expect to have it ready before mid-January 2021.  LibLime is 90% done with their work on the API. Solus is currently testing the app. Our current app can be renewed on a monthly basis, so we will be renewing it on that basis.  We will need to allow time for marketing and publicity before migrating to the new app.  Phase 1 will hopefully take place in mid-January and the general app will be available for the public.  Phase 2 will involve working with libraries interested in getting templates to customize the app for their patrons.

c.       Wording for patron block messages in LINKcat

                                                              i.      Discussion: CSS members reviewed these messages at its November meeting.  A. Gannaway displayed the document with suggested wording changes and explaining the patron block messages.  The group agreed with the changes and they will be made in production.

d.      Feedback on Known Problems – how is this working for you?

                                                              i.      Discussion: ILS staff are asking subcommittees for feedback on improving the Known Problems page.  Some library staff have expressed it’s difficult to navigate.  We were thinking we could remove the fixed issues from the main page after 3 months.  J. Ineichen mentioned they have added a checkbox called Archive on their web page so they can keep the completed requests.  R. Ziech looked into this and said we could set up a filter so that fixed stuff didn’t appear on the main page.  Is it important that fixed items are accessible somewhere?  The group does feel this is helpful.  R. Krueger mentioned the Category filter helps her navigate the problems.  R. Page agreed.

e.      Name change for Don’t Miss Lists:

                                                              i.      Special Interest DVDs to TV shows and Documentaries DVDs

ii.      Special Interest Blu-rays to TV shows and Documentaries Blu-rays

iii.      Discussion: This suggestion to change the name of the lists came from MAD staff.  The lists are based on Collection Codes and not every library uses the same codes and some would appear in other lists (ex. TV shows).  Could we add a note that the Don’t Miss Lists are based on library categories instead of collection codes (more patron friendly)?  A. Gannaway said we could put a note on the main page since this happens with a lot of lists.  The group was in favor of adding a note.  The name changes to the list may not happen until January because C. Weber will need to do some work.  A. Gannaway will let libraries know when this change will occur.

f.        Other Bibliovation questions and/or discussion

                                                              i.      Discussion: Staff mentioned that the carets in the item lists are either all on or all off.  Can this be changed so if they do click a caret it will only display items for that library.  A. Gannaway mentioned that using the custom url will bring your library’s items to the top, so you wouldn’t need to scroll to end of page.  If this is not working, please let us know.  A. Gannaway will add the issues with the caret to our database of development requests.  Is LibLime going forward with the item pager on bibs with a lot of items?  Yes.  The item pager is present for bibs with a lot of items on the discovery layer and the Item Statuses page on the staff side and is also present on the Detail/Normal view and Edit Items page on the staff side if one library has a lot of item records on the same bib record.  We are not sure if it will solve the response time problem completely but if there are still problems after the upgrade we will report them to LibLime.  Can we add a “show all” link to see all items without the pager?  LibLime would say that would be development.

5.      Plan for Next meeting:  January 20, 2021

6.      Adjournment at 10:39 am
