1.     Call to order time: 9:05 a.m.

a.     Introduction of guests/visitors

                                                    i.     Suzann Holland from Monroe Library

b.     Changes/Additions to the Agenda : None

c.      Requests to address the Committee: None

 

2.     Approval of previous meeting minutes: October 11, 2022

a.     Changes or corrections: None.

b.     Approved by motion Leah approved, Alicia second.

 

3.     Action items

a.     Decision on 2023 meetings being being hybrid or virtual

                                                    i.     Motion: To have all 2023 meetings virtual. Alicia made the motion, Leah second.

                                                   ii.     Discussion: Uncertainty of room availability at new HQ building and easy of library staff to attend virtually rather than driving to HQ.

                                                 iii.     Vote: Motion carried. 2023 meetings will be virtual.

 

4.     Reports (for Committees only)

a.     Social Work Intern Cohort

                                                    i.     Announced potential placement in Portage County of a student from UW-Stevens Point. Start date to begin in January 2023.

                                                  ii.     Announced the Social Services Needs Survey will be open till Dec 23.

                                                 iii.     Creating an info sheet to provide to the Interns about what libraries do in today’s climate.

b.     IDEA

                                                    i.     An advisory committee has been established to assist with finding CE topics before the July grant deadline.

c.      Collection Development User Group

                                                    i.     Discussed the topics from the last meeting. Members of the Collection Development User Group are looking for assistance with how to effectively use weeding reports, what sites other use when looking for material reviews, and general collection development questions.

5.     Discussion

a.     Suzann Holland from Monroe Library brought to the subcommittee the possibility of SCLS purchasing either Lego or Playmobil professional building kits to be used with staff team building. The subcommittee liked this idea. The decision was made for members to discuss this with their cluster groups and report at the next meeting. It was also mentioned that research be conducted to see if there are “train-the-facilitator” training for using these kits.

 

6.     Library Visits

a.     Alicia (MCM) visited Marshfield. Was a very positive visit with friendly staff.

b.     Leah (DEE) visited Belleville. First time in the new building. Loved the murals and meeting space. Very inviting and a positive visit. Talked about issue of staffing Makerspaces.

 

7.     Plan for next meeting: February 14, 2023 (Virtual)

a.     Continue discussion about Lego/Playmobil kits

b.     Discuss challenges and solutions when staffing makerspaces
