Discussion:† If there is a link on the desktop for the 2020 Census will people be more likely to click on it or would it be better to have a link on a homepage?† SCLS staff are looking for input.†
Comments from the tech committee:
J. Holmes:† Would you entertain a custom icon for the census?† Yes, but SCLS does not want to choose the art or the language for the shortcut.†
L. Stippich:† Because the icon would be temporary we are not voting for this to be permanent.†
T. Herold:† The homepage would be a better place for the
D. Jacobson noted SCLS has been contacted by the census bureau wanting to know how many patron computers we have available in our libraries.
J. Foster noted her cluster has been discussing this and if itís not placed on the desktop, her library will put an icon on the homepage.†
J. .Holmes noted she would like to see the census icon on the desktop to make it easier for people that may not be regular patrons to find and use the form.† It will be placed on the homepage at Sun Prairie as well.†
M. Spellman noted if the census is trying to direct people to use the census at the libraries, it should be put on the desktop.
S. Kucher noted either was is fine, but the Census is a big
deal so having it on the desktop would be nice.†
The consensus from the committee was that an icon should be created for the desktop and if itís to be a custom icon, then a subgroup will need to be created to determine the name and artwork of the icon.† There is free art available for the census.
Do we want to add a permanent icon to the desktop or would
a link to the libraries homepage be sufficient?†
M. Spellman noted MPL does voter registration in the library with each person individually so he doesnít feel the need for an icon on the desktop.†
J. Foster noted it would create more clutter on the desktop
and her library helps patrons individually.
The consensus was not to place an icon on the desktop for myvote.wi.gov.
T. Herold inquired about the Bibliovation update schedule.† You may find it here:†† http:www.scls.info.technology/pcupdate.html
