How to fix the download problem in Firefox

With the latest update to Firefox version 98.0 Mozilla has a new optimized download flow. Instead of prompting every time, files will open within the browser.  In order to change this back to the way it used to be, please follow these steps:

1. Open Firefox
2. Click on the Tools menu item
3. Click on the Settings option
4. The about:preferences window will open and the General option on the left side of the window will be highlighted.
5. Scroll down to the Applications section
6. Scroll down in the Applications window to Portable Document Format (PDF)
7. The action for PDFs will say “Open in Firefox”
8. To the right of “Open in Firefox” there is a small downward pointing arrowhead
9. Click on the arrowhead to open the dropdown list of actions
10. Click on the “Always ask” option
11. The action for PDFs will now show as "Always ask"
12. Close the Settings tab by clicking on the ‘X’
