SCLS Patron PCs are designated as either “Full Access” or “Catalog” PCs. They run standardized software programs on Dell hardware. This ensures a uniform patron experience, lowers support costs, and allows for enterprise management.
User Experience
The SCLS Technology Committee oversees the software programs, desktop icon layout and start menu icons for patron PCs. Some features of personal computers have been disabled to enhance privacy and security. An example of this is the Windows right-click context menu. User experience changes can be proposed to the Technology Committee by following the new service request process. Any approved change is implemented systemwide. SCLS is unable to accommodate per-library customizations.
- Full Access PCs – used for general computing.
- Catalog PCs – configured for a limited selection of web resources including LINKcat.
